Titleist Tips: Great Players Create S.P.A.C.E.

The best players in the world create SPACE in their swings so that they can generate S.P.A.C.E. (an acronym for Speed, Power, Accuracy, Consistency and Efficiency). In this video, Titleist staff member and TPI co-founder Dave Phillips demonstrates how elite players create space both in the backswing – loading into the trail hip and glute, as well as on the downswing – initiating the downswing with the lower body and making room for the arms to swing freely through impact.

Biomechanically speaking, creating space is critical because it allows you to maintain your wrist angles (lag) and allows you to apply force to the shaft of the club – speed and power.

To learn how to create more space in your swing, give Dave’s Belt Loop Drill a try. Your body will begin moving more efficiently and you’ll start seeing an immediate improvement in your ball-striking.
