Shush! Can you hear it? Those distinct opening notes—“bah-bah-ba-ba-bah-bah-bahhhh”—from Yanni’s “In Celebration of Man” theme music that for a generation of golf fans has signaled the U.S. Open is upon us?
Well, if you don’t hear them in your mind yet, they will certain return in the coming days as NBC Universal brings viewers more than 45 hours of live coverage from Torrey Pines and the 121st U.S. Open.
As was the case last September at Winged Foot, NBC Universal will use its cable arm, Golf Channel, and its streaming service, Peacock, to show 100-plus hours of golf from Torrey, including “traditional” tournament action as well as Featured Groups and Featured Hole coverage from all four rounds. On Thursday and Friday, you can see all the action from the first tee shots at sunrise to the final putts falling in the gloaming.
