Yep, Sungjae Im still plays the most golf on the PGA Tour (and it’s not even close)

Upon learning Im had finally bought a house in Atlanta at the end of 2020, many thought he might slow down his schedule. Well, those many people were wrong.

Im is still playing a ton on the PGA Tour. Heck, the fact that he already has 100 career starts under his belt and he doesn’t turn 24 until next spring is indicative of that alone. But take a look deeper into his stats, and the numbers are staggering:

Even more impressive is how much ahead Im is of second place in those categories. He’s made five more starts than Tom Hoge, played 56 more rounds than Adam Schenk, posted 50 more sub-par rounds than Schenk and 48 more rounds in the 60s than Harris English, and racked up 186 more birdies than Schenk during that time.

And even if you just isolate last season, Sungjae played 35 times. Schenk, who finished T-3 in Vegas and seems to be linked to Im in all these stats, “only” made 33 starts. Of course, old-timers who rarely missed a tournament because the purses were so much smaller than they are today will scoff at these numbers. But of the younger generation, Im is clearly the top road warrior.

At the Tour Championship last month Im said it was “a dream come true” to be able to commute from his new home to the tournament every day. But while he may like having a house, he still doesn’t seem to be spending much time there during the other weeks of the year.
